FAQ
These are a few questions you will likely have or should know about our press.
Q: What kind of material would you like to see come across your desk(s)?A: We love reading the likes of
C. S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, Os Guiness, Henry van Dyke, the essays of
Robert Louis Stevenson, and traditional and experimental poetry along the lines of
Emily Dickinson or
Luci Shaw. We love the fiction of
Lucy Maud Montgomery and science fiction of the
Tom Swift variety. We absolutely adore the fantasy of
George McDonald's Lost Princess and
The Golden Key. For junior books, one can't beat
The Hardy Boys,
Nancy Drew,
Ruth Fielding,
Ken Holt, and
Don Sturdy. Of course, these are but a few.
We love
literary but not mazes;
poetry but not cryptograms;
fiction but not dimestore novels. If you are at all in doubt about a genre or potential piece for submission ("Will it fit?"), please ask.

A: Check out this
article by publisher Michael Hyatt.

A: Of course, we can't answer that question with any authority, but there's a good chance that will happen, and in the not-too-distant future. Michael Hyatt
article on Print-on-Demand. And another one
here.
A: Absolutely! We're committed to staying on the cutting edge of new technology, if not a step ahead. Read why this is essential
here. We hope to provide ebooks by 2011.
A: Publishers are cutting back on acquisitions, fewer do much marketing at all, and author royalties are of necessity small compared to what we offer (consider a large publisher's high overhead). We feel we can take on several new authors a year, give them a higher percentage of royalties than they're likely to get elsewhere, and still help them with at least minimal marketing. We feel we can help good writers get their books out there for the world to enjoy.
A: Familiarize yourself thoroughly with this site, our guidelines, our mission. If you still have questions after that, please contact us. Get your equery to us in January ONLY.
A: Once we receive your equery and proposal (in January only -- DO NOT SUBMIT to us in other months), we may take up to a month or two to respond, either asking for the full manuscript or declining your offer. If we've asked for your full manuscript, you may wait three or four months (or more) before we report back to you on its status (please do not contact us before then). All considered, figure on at least a year from submission to publication, probably longer.
