Rod Miller

Rod Miller is author of a Western novel and two historical books, most recently Massacre at Bear River: First, Worst, Forgotten, from Caxton Press. He has also written a number of magazine articles, several anthologized short stories, and numerous poems about cowboys and the West. “A Border Dispute,” his story in the 2005 anthology Lone Star Law, was a Finalist for the Western Writers of America Spur Award. Kerry Newcomb was born in Connecticut but had the good fortune to be raised in Texas. Newcomb is a New York Times bestselling author with over forty novels to his credit. Frank Roderus is a well-published author of over 300 books with a loyal fan base who enjoy his westerns, mysteries, juvenile books and other works. He's been writing full-time since 1980, and was a journalist, before that winning the Colorado Press Association's highest award. The Western Writers of America has twice named him recipient of the most prestigious award a western writer can receive, the Spur Award for his hardback, Leaving Kansas, in 1983 and again in 1996 with Potter's Field. He said, "I wrote my first fiction (a western) at age five and never wanted to do anything else. I enjoy researching the American West as well as my travels in the area. Troy D. Smith is a native of Sparta, Tennessee. He received a B.A. in History at Tennessee Tech, and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois, where he teaches U.S. and East Asian history and researches Native Americans and the Civil War. Smith has been a member of Western Writers of America since 1998.
